Position Description: The Catalog Librarian manages all cataloging activities including original cataloging, copy cataloging, and the cataloging of electronic resources. The cataloger is responsible for the maintenance of all MARC bibliographic and item level records in the library’s integrated library system (Innovative Interfaces, Inc.) and in the national OCLC database. This position also manages the federal and state depository collections. In addition, the catalog librarian supervises and trains the cataloging paraprofessional, oversees their work, and monitors their workflow. This person also participates in collection development and University shared governance activities. Requires 6-7 consecutive hours of computer-intensive work daily. Other related duties as assigned.

Required Education: Master's Degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution with two years of cataloging experience using AACR2 in an online environment.
Required Experience: Working knowledge of AACR2 and RDA, LC Classification, LCSH, SuDoc and Dewey classification systems. Detilaed knowledge of MARC format and the handling of electronic records. Good oral and written communication skills. Attention to detail and accurate data entry skills. Self-started, able to organize work priorities, and complete tasks in a timely fashion, etc. Experience with integrated library systems. Require 6-7 consecutive hours of computer-intensive work daily.
